Evanston Scottish Country Dancers

About Us

The Evanston Scottish Country Dancers were formed by Frances and Alec Gillan when they were asked to dance at a St. Andrew's Day Anniversary Dinner or "The Feast of the Haggis". During the group's 40+ years, the Gillans have followed Miss Milligan's philosophy, which stressed the enjoyment of dancing: "Never forget that the chief object of these dances is social". The group has performed at Burns' Suppers, Saint Andrew Society Dinners, the Chicago Highland Games, the Skokie Festival of Cultures, the City of Chicago's Celtic Fest, Milwaukee Irish Fest, and many other festivals in the greater Chicago area.
